Sheffield 1916 Hallmarked Arts & Crafts Sterling Silver 4 Piece Tea Set, Ebony Finials and Handles, Maker: James Ramsay of Dundee
A wonderful Sheffield England 1916 hallmarked Arts and Crafts sterling silver 4 piece tea set, consisting of a teapot, water jug, creamer and open sugar bowl, all with pedestal bases.
The total weight of the silver is 1.64 Kg. The design of each piece is simple but very beautiful.
The set is made by James Ramsay of Dundee. Both the teapot and water jug have ebony finials and handles and have high quality flush jointed hinges with unique side placements.
Each piece shows the maker’s mark and the hallmarks on one side of the body. In addition, each piece is stamped on the underside of the bases “7730. Rd. 640136. 543048”.
The teapot is 9 1/2 inches wide from the spout to the handle and is 6 1/2 inches tall from the finial to the base. The water jug is 6 3/4 inches wide from the spout to the handle and is 9 inches tall.
The creamer is 5 inches wide and stands 4 1/4 inches tall. The sugar bowl is 5 3/4 inches wide from handle to handle and is 4 inches tall.
There is some slight age wear and a few very small dings but, overall, this set is in very good condition.
